Special features of the sunglasses:
- 100% unbreakable frame
- Very lightweight (weight 9 gr)
- Very flexible temples – no risk of the arms breaking if a child twists them!
- One-piece frame that contains no screws – safe if a screw should end up in child’s hands!
- High 3-category protection against harmful UVA, UVB, and UVC rays
- Blue light filter (from digital devices)
- Very durable polarized polycarbonate mirrored lenses
- The glasses do not press against the child’s head or nose.
- Comes with a nice package, pouch, and strap for securing the glasses
Usage: Although Kietla glasses are very durable and the frame is unbreakable, they are not toys. Please ensure that the child does not rub them against rocks and does not chew on them. This could scratch the lenses.
Do children need to wear sunglasses?
The eyes of babies and children need to be especially protected from harmful sun radiation on hot sunny summer days because their eyes have low protective capability: a child’s pupil is wide, the lens crystal clear, and they tend to look upwards more than adults. Children are at greater risk of developing eye damage caused by excessive sun exposure.
Does a regular dark lens also protect babies’ eyes?
It is not the dark lens that protects the eyes from sunlight but the UV protection. Wearing glasses with lenses that are simply dyed dark, without UV protection, is extremely dangerous for the eyes because the eye’s natural protection functions: squinting and pupils narrowing, do not activate with dark lenses. Therefore, significantly more UV radiation reaches the eye than when not wearing sunglasses.
